Hera

Hera, Queen of Mt. Olympus, and sister-wife to Zeus.  Most of the attributes associated with Hera involved revenge from Zeus’ misadventures with other mortal or deity females.  She is famous for more particularly taking revenge on the offspring of Zeus’ escapades.  Taking direct revenge on Zeus is no easy activity to pull off.  The offspring she is most known for torturing is Hercules (or Heracles in the acient text).

She and Zeus did have some offspring of their own.  Ares, Hephaestus, and Hebe; these two sons and a daughter will be discussed in their own blog posts so I will not expand on them now.  Hera does have a part in my first novel in my ‘Strategy’ series.  Depending on what Zeus does, she might feature more prominently in the future novels; we will see.

Hera has a love of cows, peacocks, cuckoo birds, enjoys pomegranates, and carries a scepter.  She is the goddess of marriage, childbirth, women, and family.  Given her focus, is it any wonder she gets unhinged when Zeus plays his infidelity games?

Our series on Greek Gods/Goddesses will continue in our next blog post…
